Key Verse: “Then they faithfully brought in the contributions, tithes, and dedicated gifts.” – 2 Chronicles 31:12a (NIV)
Reflection: After King Hezekiah called the people to return to the Lord and to give their tithes and offerings, the people responded with remarkable generosity. God’s blessings overflowed, and the offerings became so abundant that they ran out of space to store everything. In response, the king ordered storerooms in the Temple to be prepared, and Levites were appointed to receive, manage, and distribute the gifts.
These Levites didn’t just do their jobs—they served faithfully, with honesty and integrity. They brought in the tithes and sacred gifts “in an upright manner”, meaning they didn’t keep anything for themselves or misuse what was given. Everything was handled with care and in full view of accountability.
Key individuals like Conaniah and his brother Shimei, along with a team of helpers, were entrusted with overseeing the storerooms. Others, like Kore and his assistants, were tasked with distributing the offerings fairly to every priest and Levite—young and old, near and far, even to the families of those who served.
This level of organization, fairness, and integrity set a powerful example. Every gift was treated as sacred. Every person was cared for. And every action was done in a way that honored God.
Let us pray:
Lord, help me to love You deeply and give generously to Your work. Teach me to serve You with integrity like the Levites did—wholeheartedly, faithfully, and without compromise. May my life be a reflection of upright stewardship and joyful giving, for Your glory. Amen.
